Grubhub Agrees To $5,000,000 Delivery Fee Settlement for Customers In California – Here’s Who’s Eligible

The Daily Hodl
Grubhub will distribute up to $5 million in credits to California customers who allege they were misled about delivery and service fees.

Summary

Grubhub has agreed to a $5,000,000 settlement to resolve a lawsuit alleging deceptive practices regarding delivery and service fees charged to customers in California. The lawsuit, filed by plaintiffs including Charles Wang, claims Grubhub made “false or misleading representations” about these fees and menu prices between January 24th, 2019, and January 12th, 2026. Customers who used the Grubhub or Seamless app to order food delivered to a California address during this period are eligible for a $10.00 site credit.

A claim portal is open until May 12th for affected customers to submit their information. The settlement has received preliminary approval from a state court, with a final approval hearing scheduled for April 29th.

Grubhub maintains its denial of all claims and asserts it has done nothing wrong, stating the settlement is a compromise to avoid the costs and uncertainties of a trial. The company emphasizes that the settlement does not indicate any legal wrongdoing.
