Jefferson County Commissioners file lawsuit against PAGO to recover funds

Thecourierexpress
Jefferson County is suing PAGO to recover over $156,000 in grant funds allegedly withheld after their contract was terminated.

Summary

The Jefferson County Commissioners have filed a lawsuit against the Pennsylvania Great Outdoors Visitors Bureau (PAGO) seeking to recover $156,920.37 in funds designated for county grant programs. The lawsuit stems from the county’s termination of its relationship with PAGO on July 31, 2023, after PAGO allegedly failed to provide required audited financial reports. According to the county, the agreement with PAGO stipulated that 25 percent of all collected monies would be allocated for grants to promote Jefferson County tourism. Commissioner Jeff Pisarcik stated that PAGO failed to adhere to this agreement. The county alleges that PAGO’s failure to use the designated funds constitutes a breach of contract and is requesting the return of the funds, as well as attorney’s fees and other associated costs.
