Ye Hit With Lawsuit Over ‘Vultures 2’ Sample (Again)
Summary
Rapper Ye (formerly Kanye West) is facing yet another lawsuit regarding uncleared samples, this time concerning his track “530” from the album *Vultures 2*. Alternative R&B artist Swsh and U.K. label Future Bounce allege that the song illegally samples Swsh’s 2018 song “Break the Fall,” specifically looping the outro vocals throughout the first two minutes of the track. The lawsuit claims Ye and collaborator Ty Dolla $ign exploited Swsh’s work without permission or compensation, causing financial harm and misrepresenting authorship.
Swsh states they sent demand letters after the initial release of *Vultures 2*, but the issue remained unresolved, and the track was even re-released on Ye’s 2025 album *Donda 2* without a license. The lawsuit describes Ye’s actions as a “willful, knowing and deliberate” appropriation of intellectual property.
The plaintiffs are seeking financial damages, including lost royalties, noting that “530” has garnered over 50 million streams on Spotify. The lawsuit also names Ye’s label YZY and digital distribution service Label Engine as defendants. Representatives for Ye, Ty Dolla $ign, and Label Engine have not yet responded to requests for comment.
