Relief For Salaried Employees: EPF Claim Settlement Cut To 8 Days- Check Rules

Abp News
The EPFO now settles most claims within 8 days, significantly faster than previous timelines, due to digital upgrades and reduced employer involvement.

Summary

The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has significantly reduced the claim settlement time to an average of eight days, according to a recent announcement to Parliament. This improvement is a result of digital upgrades to the EPFO’s systems, including the Unified Portal and Field Office Application, collectively known as EPFO 2.0. These platforms allow salaried workers and pensioners to file claims – including transfers and final settlements – online with minimal paperwork.

A key change is the removal of the requirement for employer approval in many cases, particularly for those with fully compliant e-KYC details linked to their Universal Account Number (UAN). This eliminates a previous bottleneck where delays often occurred due to slow employer responses. The EPFO has already processed over 8.5 crore claims this fiscal year using the new system.

This faster processing time provides significant relief to EPF members who rely on these funds for retirement or job transitions. Officials emphasize that the digital filing and automated verification processes also reduce errors and improve transparency. However, members are advised to ensure their bank details, Aadhaar, and UAN are accurately linked to fully benefit from the expedited service.
