Dollar General shoppers: Check your email for class action settlement information

Alabama Local News
Dollar General will pay $15 million in a settlement to customers who were overcharged for items between 2016 and 2025.

Summary

Dollar General has agreed to a $15 million settlement following a class action lawsuit alleging that customers were charged prices at checkout that differed from those advertised on shelves. The settlement, preliminarily approved on December 15th, allocates $6.5 million for operational changes to prevent future discrepancies and $8.5 million for claim payments and court costs. Customers who made purchases between October 10, 2016, and November 19, 2025, are eligible to file a claim for $10 per item or the amount of the overcharge, whichever is greater, with a maximum of two items per household.

Additionally, all members of the settlement class, even those who do not file a claim, are eligible for a $3 in-store discount. This discount can be redeemed by myDG account holders or those who register on the settlement website, receiving a postcard or email with a credit.

Shoppers are receiving email notifications with unique IDs and confirmation codes to submit claims by April 13th. The final approval hearing is scheduled for March 19th, though the payout date remains undetermined.
