A federal judge terminated a civil lawsuit against Northwestern on Friday, which alleged that hiring practices at the Pritzker School of Law discriminated against white male candidates. The ruling follows the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois’ approval of the University’s motion to dismiss the lawsuit on January 22nd. Faculty, Alumni and Students Opposed to Racial Preferences (FASORP) indicated they would not amend the complaint, effectively ending the case. FASORP initially sued Northwestern in July 2024, citing several white male candidates not hired by Pritzker as faculty. The original case was voluntarily dismissed on January 31, 2025, only to be refiled the following day; this second case is now terminated.
