Summary

Kaiser Permanente has settled a $10.5 million class action lawsuit regarding unsolicited marketing text messages sent to recipients after they requested to opt out. The lawsuit, filed in August 2025, alleged that Kaiser Permanente failed to honor these opt-out requests. Individuals who received more than one text message from Kaiser Foundation Health Plan Inc. between January 21, 2021, and August 20, 2025, after sending a “stop” request may be eligible for a payout of up to $75 per qualifying text. To claim a settlement, individuals must submit a claim form by February 12, 2026, either online with a unique ID and PIN from a notice, or by submitting a downloaded paper form. The final payout amount will depend on the total number of claims filed, and distribution of funds may take several months.
