ADOR won a lawsuit against Dolphiners Film, receiving approximately $681,000 USD in damages over copyright and unauthorized video releases.

Summary

ADOR has won a significant lawsuit against Dolphiners Film, the production company behind NewJeans’ music videos. The Seoul Central District Court ordered Dolphiners Film to pay ADOR ₩1.00 billion KRW (approximately $681,000 USD) plus annual late interest, following a dispute over the unauthorized release of a director’s cut of the “ETA” music video.

The conflict began when director Shin Woo Seok of Dolphiners Film stated that ADOR requested the removal of all NewJeans-related content due to policy changes. ADOR countered that the director’s cut, posted on Dolphiners Film’s social media, included edits previously rejected by advertisers and was released without approval. ADOR asserted that the copyright for NewJeans’ music videos resides with them, and any releases should occur through their official channels to “protect the rights of the artists.”

Throughout four trial sessions, both sides presented opposing arguments. The court ultimately sided with ADOR, affirming their copyright ownership and ruling against Dolphiners Film’s unauthorized publication of the video content.
