Washington McDonald's to pay thousands in class action settlement

New York Post
A Washington-based McDonald's franchisee agreed to pay $1,000 to thousands of job applicants for failing to disclose pay ranges.

Summary

Washington-based KTC LLC has agreed to a $681,600 class action settlement after being accused of posting job listings without including pay ranges or salary information. The lawsuit claimed the company violated Washington's Equal Pay and Opportunities Act, which requires employers to disclose wage scales in job advertisements. While KTC LLC denied any wrongdoing, the franchise operator agreed to settle the case. Eligible class members, who applied to KTC-operated McDonald's locations between January 1, 2023, and March 13, 2025, may qualify for compensation if the listing they applied through did not include wage information. Settlement administrators are expected to automatically send paper checks to qualifying applicants using addresses already on file. A final approval hearing is scheduled for August 30, with payments expected to begin about a month later.
