Xepeng Defines Merchant Outcome: Rupiah Settlement, Not Digital Asset Custody

Openpr.com
Xepeng enables Indonesian merchants to receive international payments in Rupiah without managing digital assets, simplifying operations and aligning with local financial practices.

Summary

Xepeng has clarified its approach to merchant settlements, emphasizing that merchants will receive funds exclusively in Indonesian Rupiah (IDR) without needing to handle digital asset custody. The platform separates the customer’s digital asset initiation from the commercial event, converting and settling transactions so merchant cash flow remains within the traditional banking system. Merchants simply provide a transaction reference, and funds are directly transferred to their Rupiah bank accounts, avoiding the complexities of digital asset wallets and exchanges.

This design supports standard Indonesian business practices, allowing merchants to continue with Rupiah-based invoicing, accounting, and tax reporting. According to Budi Satrya, CMO of Xepeng, “Merchants should not have to become asset custodians to accept new forms of international value.” By managing the digital conversion process on the backend, Xepeng allows merchants to benefit from international digital payments without altering their existing operations.

Xepeng’s model aligns with Indonesia’s financial system, which prioritizes the Rupiah for domestic transactions to promote economic stability. The platform provides a structured way for merchants to access new revenue streams while remaining compliant with local regulations and practices, ultimately supporting economic retention within Indonesia.
