AT&T Settlement Deadline Is Thursday: How to Claim Up to $7,500

San Luis Obispo Tribune
A deadline is approaching to claim up to $7,500 from AT&T’s $177 million settlement related to data breaches affecting over 1 million Americans.

Summary

AT&T is facing a $177 million settlement due to two major data breaches that compromised the sensitive information of over 1 million Americans. The first breach, occurring between 2019 and 2024, exposed data like Social Security numbers and account passcodes, allowing potential claims of up to $5,000. A second breach, from May to October 2022, affected phone numbers and call/text records, with potential claims up to $2,500. Individuals impacted by both breaches can claim a combined maximum of $7,500.

To determine eligibility and file a claim, individuals should visit the official settlement website and either provide a Class Member ID (if received via mail or email) or their AT&T account details. Claimants can choose to submit documentation of financial losses for potentially higher compensation or opt for a no-proof cash payment, which offers a share of the net settlement funds after fees.

The deadline to submit claims is Thursday, December 18th. After review, payments are expected to begin after final court approval on January 15th, with distribution potentially extending into 2026. Even those who weren't AT&T customers may be eligible if they communicated with an AT&T customer during the second breach.
