Canadians can get cash from $1.85 million Keurig class-action settlement
Summary
Keurig has agreed to a $1.85 million settlement in a class-action lawsuit alleging misleading claims about the recyclability of its K-Cup pods and brewers sold in Canada between June 8, 2016, and December 8, 2025. The lawsuit, brought forward by Nancy Buis, claimed the products contained “misleading representations as to the recyclability and/or disposability of the pods.” After legal fees of $634,845.17 plus taxes are deducted, the remaining funds will be distributed to eligible class members.
Eligible claimants who purchased K-Cup pods can receive up to $7 per claim without proof of purchase, or 50 cents for every 10 pods purchased (up to $50) with proof of purchase. Those who purchased Keurig brewers can receive up to $25 per claim with proof of purchase of a brewer or at least one pod. Claims can be submitted for both pods and brewers.
Canadians who believe they are eligible must submit a claim form online by July 8, providing personal information and proof of purchase if available. Payments can be received via e-transfer or cheque (with a $3.75 deduction for cheques). More information is available on the Keurig Recyclable K-Cup Pods Settlement website.
