Rihanna’s Savage X Fenty Hit With Class Action Lawsuit Demanding Refund of Tariff Surcharges

Rihanna's Savage X Fenty faces a class action lawsuit after customers demand refunds for tariff surcharges added to purchases.

Summary

Months after the U.S. Supreme Court struck down President Trump's sweeping import tariffs, Rihanna's Savage X Fenty lingerie brand is facing a class action lawsuit from customers demanding that it return "tariff surcharges" it allegedly tacked onto purchases. The case, filed in federal court, argues that Savage X Fenty will be refunded for the now-voided tariffs it paid to the Trump administration, but that it seemingly has no plans to refund add-on fees it charged consumers to cover them. The lawsuit, filed by Ajani Hoffert, claims the company "stood to recover the same tariff payments twice" by charging consumers and then seeking reimbursement from the government. Savage X Fenty, founded by the superstar in 2018, is the latest company to face such a case, following similar actions against Amazon, Nike, Toyota, Costco, and FedEx. The plaintiffs argue that Savage X Fenty "exercised discretion in determining the amount charged to consumers" rather than merely passing through a uniform government-imposed tariff rate.
