Implement wage settlement without delay, demand Nabard employees
Summary
Nabard employees, under the banner of the All-India Nabard Employees’ Association (AINBEA), held protests at Nabard offices nationwide on Wednesday, demanding the swift implementation of their negotiated wage settlement. The AINBEA is considering escalating their protest with strikes and a dharna before Parliament if their demands are not met. General Secretary Rana Mitra stated that the delay in implementing the ninth bipartite wage settlement, signed on June 13th, is unacceptable and violates established conventions.
Mitra criticized both the Department of Financial Services (DFS) for allegedly delaying the file and Nabard management for a lack of transparency regarding the implementation delay, noting the resulting loss of real wages for employees due to inflation. Beyond the wage settlement, the AINBEA is also advocating for pension updation for new recruits, enhanced family pensions, and the operationalization of compassionate appointment packages pending since 2012.
Furthermore, the association is calling for a return to the Old Pension Scheme. The AINBEA expressed gratitude for the support received from the Bank Employees’ Federation of India (BEFI) and the All-India Regional Rural Bank Employees’ Association (AIRRBEA) in their ongoing struggle.
