Trader Joe’s lawsuit settlement checks are coming. Are you eligible?

Las-vegas Review Journal
A $7.4 million settlement with Trader Joe’s means customers who had more than five digits of their card number printed on receipts between March and July 2019 may be eligible for a payout.

Summary

Trader Joe’s is settling a lawsuit stemming from a 2019 complaint alleging violations of the Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act (FACTA). The lawsuit claimed that some Trader Joe’s stores printed 10 digits of customers’ credit or debit card numbers on receipts, exceeding the FACTA-allowed maximum of five. While Trader Joe’s denies any wrongdoing, its insurer determined settling the case was more cost-effective than continued litigation. A $7.4 million settlement fund has been established, and customers who made purchases at affected stores between March 5 and July 19, 2019, may be eligible for a payment of approximately $102.45 per qualifying claim. Class ID numbers were sent to potentially affected individuals, allowing them to file claims online or by phone. Those without a Class ID can submit a claim form with their card details and purchase date. The settlement is scheduled for court approval on August 10, with checks to be mailed out afterward. Customers can file claims online at www.TJ-FACTASettlement.com, by phone at 1-888-444-7415, or by mail to Keim v. Trader Joe’s Settlement Administrator, P.O. Box 301134, Los Angeles, CA, 90030-1134.
