Marquette County Board forms opioid task force to refine settlement disbursement
Summary
The Marquette County Board created a task force to oversee the distribution of funds from the statewide opioid settlement. The county will receive approximately $4 million over 18 years starting in January 2023. The task force, as per the resolution read by Vice Chair Bill Nordeen, will be responsible for receiving and evaluating requests for the funds from the Marquette County Health Department, then recommending distributions to the Board. The state of Michigan is set to receive $1.6 billion from the settlement, to be shared between state and local governments.
