Uttarakhand Proposes Steep Deviation Settlement Charges for Solar Projects
Summary
The Uttarakhand Electricity Regulatory Commission (UERC) has proposed a new deviation settlement mechanism for renewable energy projects, reducing the allowable deviation tolerance to ±5% for solar and hybrid projects and to ±10% for wind projects, in line with the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission’s (CERC) updated bands. Under the proposal, solar projects that under‑inject beyond 10% of their contracted generation would be charged 200% of the applicable contract rate, aiming to discourage significant deviations and improve grid stability. The move reflects broader regulatory efforts to tighten deviation settlement rules across India’s renewable sector.
