EPFO has commenced local provident fund claim settlement in Leh, providing major relief to Ladakh subscribers by reducing travel to Jammu.

Summary

The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has initiated local settlement of provident fund claims in Leh for the first time, benefiting subscribers in Ladakh. Previously, claims were processed through the Regional Office in Jammu, over 650 kilometers away, causing logistical challenges. This move processes 42 claims locally, involving Rs 14,32,574, and aims to reduce dependence on Jammu, enhance efficiency, and improve accessibility. Ajay K Mehra, Additional Central Provident Fund Commissioner, highlighted that this will ease living and business for over 7,800 subscribers and 2,700 establishments. The initiative supports schemes like Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana and will be aided by the CITES 2.0 system for auto-mode processing. EPFO is also upgrading infrastructure in Ladakh with a new office building to provide better services.
