Nairobi Securities Exchange Teams With Tether to Test USDT Settlement Across $26.4B Market

Bitcoin News
NSE and Tether will test USDT settlement to modernize Kenya's $26.4B market and boost liquidity.

Summary

The Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) and Tether signed a memorandum of understanding to explore asset tokenization, blockchain-based settlement, and investor education in Kenya, aiming to test instant settlement via Tether’s Hadron platform and potentially use USDT as a settlement layer to eliminate the NSE’s three‑level delay and boost liquidity in its $26.4 billion market. The partnership will also streamline AML/KYC onboarding, deliver broker training and knowledge‑transfer programs, and support the exchange’s 2025‑2029 strategic plan to modernize infrastructure and broaden investor access. Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino said, "Our goal is to streamline operations and enable efficient, transparent, accountable, and sustainable processes, while protecting data and privacy," and NSE CEO Frank Mwiti added, "By collaborating with Tether, we are exploring innovative technologies that have the potential to modernize market infrastructure, enhance operational efficiency, and broaden investor access while maintaining the highest standards of market integrity and regulatory compliance."}
