Union Sues EEOC Over Suspended Federal Worker Class Actions (1)

Bloomberg Tax News
AFGE sued EEOC for suspending federal sector class action cases alleging violation of Administrative Procedure Act.

Summary

On July 28 2026 the American Federation of Government Employees which represents about 800000 federal workers filed a lawsuit in the US District Court for the District of Columbia accusing the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission of violating the Administrative Procedure Act when it issued an agency wide order the previous year that halted all federal sector class case processing. The union says the move is part of the Trump administration efforts to destabilize the federal workforce. While the cases remain frozen administrative judges are unable to certify discrimination lawsuits set hearings make liability determinations or order remedies.
