If you got money from Facebook’s massive privacy settlement last year, you’re about to get more cash
Summary
Meta is set to distribute a second round of payments as part of its $725 million privacy settlement. This settlement originated from multiple lawsuits alleging that Facebook shared user data with third parties, such as advertisers and data brokers, without proper permission. While Meta denies any wrongdoing or liability, the settlement covers Facebook users in the U.S. who were active between May 24, 2007, and December 22, 2022.
The upcoming distribution aims to redistribute uncashed funds from the initial round of payments, which occurred in September 2025. Eligible users who received their first payment will be notified via email three to four days before the new funds are issued. The distribution process is expected to span approximately 10 weeks.
These secondary payments are expected to be smaller than the initial median payment of $32.45, with amounts ranging from a minimum of $4.67 to a maximum of $7.32. Payments will be delivered through various methods, including check, direct deposit, PayPal, Venmo, Zelle, or prepaid debit cards, based on the claimant's original selection.
