According to the lawsuit, Jones implied that Colony Ridge is controlled by Mexican drug cartels and referred to it as a "giant fraud site" while claiming its lending practices take advantage of poor people and immigrants. Colony Ridge called these claims a "demonstrable lie" and "meritless," stating that its "flexible financing is designed to remove traditional barriers to land ownership." The video was viewed over 650,000 times before being taken down. This legal battle comes the same month Colony Ridge agreed to pay $68 million to settle a Department of Justice lawsuit over predatory loan practices.
