Colony Ridge developer files $10 million lawsuit against Alex Jones
Summary
The developer behind six Liberty County subdivisions, Colony Ridge, has filed a $10 million defamation lawsuit against Alex Jones. The legal action stems from a video Jones posted to X in February, in which he and failed gubernatorial candidate Pete Chambers discussed Colony Ridge. According to the lawsuit, Jones implied that Colony Ridge is controlled by Mexican drug cartels and referred to it as a "giant fraud site" while claiming its lending practices take advantage of poor people and immigrants. Colony Ridge called these claims a "demonstrable lie" and "meritless," stating that its "flexible financing is designed to remove traditional barriers to land ownership." The video was viewed over 650,000 times before being taken down. This legal battle comes the same month Colony Ridge agreed to pay $68 million to settle a Department of Justice lawsuit over predatory loan practices.
