The Calgary Board of Education has finalized payouts to students abused at John Ware School, with payments ranging from $24,000 to $422,000. Lawyer David Corrigan informed the court that eight victim groups totaling 54 former students will receive payments totalling $10,707,500. The settlement covers abuse allegations against teachers Fred Henry Archer and Michael Gregory, who taught at the school between 1988 and 1994. The case included three named plaintiffs representing subclasses of victims alleging sexual and physical assault by Archer and physical abuse by Gregory. A 55th student has been given until May 26 to complete the process to claim damages of $24,000.
