Nevada Attorney General wins lawsuit against Live Nation for violating federal and state antitrust laws

Nevada Attorney General Aaron Ford announced a victory in a lawsuit against Live Nation and Ticketmaster, alongside a bipartisan coalition of Attorneys General. A jury found that Live Nation and Ticketmaster unlawfully maintained and abused their monopoly power, hindering competition from other ticketing services, venue owners, and concert promoters after a five-week trial. The core issue was that Live Nation and Ticketmaster were preventing a free market environment, leading to inflated ticket prices for consumers and limiting negotiating power for artists and venues.

According to A.G. Ford, the jury specifically found Ticketmaster unlawfully monopolizes ticketing services at major concert venues, and Live Nation holds a monopoly in large amphitheaters, further requiring artists to use their promotion services. The jury also concluded that fans have been overcharged for concert tickets nationwide.

The case will now proceed to the next phase, where judges will determine remedies, including potential refunds for consumers, financial penalties for Live Nation and Ticketmaster, and new regulations to prevent future monopolistic practices.
