Amazon Prime customers still have a chance to get in on the $2.5B FTC settlement

New York Post
Amazon Prime customers who didn't receive initial refunds can now file a claim for a share of the $2.5 billion FTC settlement.

Summary

Millions of Amazon Prime customers are eligible for a portion of a $2.5 billion settlement with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) due to allegations that Amazon made it difficult to cancel Prime subscriptions. The settlement includes $1 billion in civil penalties and $1.5 billion for eligible subscribers, capped at $51 per person. While many customers received refunds via email between November 12 and December 24 through Venmo or PayPal, those who didn't receive an email can now file a claim through a process that opened on Monday.

Eligible customers must have unintentionally enrolled in Prime between June 23, 2019, and June 23, 2025, or unsuccessfully attempted to cancel their subscription. They also must have used no more than three Prime benefits in any 12-month period after enrollment. The FTC is notifying eligible customers by January 23 and is warning customers to be aware of potential fraud, as the FTC will not contact individuals directly regarding refunds. Amazon neither admitted to nor denied the FTC’s accusations.
