Own ‘The Last Of Us’ or ‘NBA 2K’ on PlayStation? Money is coming your way
Summary
Sony's PlayStation is distributing a $7.85 million settlement following a class action lawsuit that accused the company of creating a monopoly on digital game purchases. The lawsuit alleged that by eliminating the retail voucher system in April 2019—which allowed customers to buy games at reduced prices from retailers like Amazon, Target, and Walmart—Sony forced consumers to pay higher, non-competitive prices exclusively through the PlayStation Store.
Customers who purchased eligible games through the PlayStation Store between April 1, 2019, and December 31, 2023, may be eligible for compensation if the digital price was at least 50 cents higher than the previous voucher price. Impacted titles include "The Last Of Us," "Until Dawn," "God of War III Remastered," and various entries in the "NBA 2K" and "WWE 2K" series. While eligible, the average compensation is estimated to be modest, roughly $1 to $3 per title.
