Pac-12, Mountain West pursue settlement — which could affect Boise State
Summary
The Pac-12 and Mountain West conferences have halted their legal disputes and are working toward an out-of-court settlement. Boise State University is implicated in the lawsuits concerning multimillion-dollar poaching and exit fees, and could be part of the settlement. On Monday, the conferences and five schools, including Boise State, announced an agreement in principle to pause the lawsuits. The lawsuits stem from the departure of Boise State and four other programs from the Mountain West to join a rebuilt Pac-12, with poaching penalties totaling $55 million. Boise State had also challenged Mountain West exit fees ranging from $19 million to $38 million. The Pac-12 is scheduled to commence play later this year.
