Trader Joe's settlement could mean $102 for Tennessee residents. How to claim
Summary
Trader Joe's has agreed to a $7.4 million settlement in a class-action lawsuit alleging violations of the Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act (FACTA). The lawsuit, filed in 2019, claimed that receipts at some stores displayed the first six and last four digits of customers’ credit or debit card numbers, increasing the risk of identity theft. Trader Joe’s denies wrongdoing but settled to avoid further litigation, noting no reported identity theft related to the issue.
Customers who made purchases between March 5, 2019, and July 19, 2019, using a credit or debit card and received a receipt showing the first six and last four digits of their card number may be eligible for a payout. The estimated payout per eligible claimant is around $102.45, dependent on the number of valid claims submitted.
Eligible customers can submit a claim through the settlement website or by mail. A court hearing to approve the settlement is scheduled for August. Tennessee residents can find seven Trader Joe’s locations across six cities, including two in Nashville.
