Judge issues summary judgment in Arlington Board of Realtors lawsuit
Summary
A judge issued a summary judgment on March 24th in a lawsuit against the Arlington Board of Realtors (ARBOR), brought by its members. The suit alleged issues with officer elections – specifically a lack of quorums in 2023 and 2024 – and questioned a reduction of over $800,000 in the organization’s funds since 2020. Plaintiffs’ attorney J. Shelby Sharpe stated the victory ensures ARBOR will operate with transparency and adhere to its bylaws. Judge J. Patrick Gallagher ordered ARBOR to allow the plaintiffs access to its records. The lawsuit followed a failed merger attempt between ARBOR and the Greater Fort Worth Association of Realtors and sought clarity on the organization’s business practices. ARBOR’s president, Corey Harris, previously dismissed the allegations as “highly inflated and erroneous,” but did not respond to a recent request for comment. The plaintiffs expressed their satisfaction with the ruling, emphasizing their goal was to protect the association and ensure proper governance.
