Bank of America agrees to $72.5M settlement with Epstein survivors - UPI.com
Summary
Bank of America has reached a $72.5 million settlement with survivors of Jeffrey Epstein’s abuse, resolving a class-action lawsuit alleging the bank ignored warning signs of Epstein’s criminal activity. The lawsuit claimed Bank of America continued to do business with Epstein while he was committing decades of abuse and trafficking of women and teenage girls. While the bank denies any wrongdoing, stating they “did not facilitate sex trafficking crimes,” they settled to avoid a trial and provide closure for the plaintiffs. The settlement covers women abused by Epstein or those “connected to or otherwise associated” with him between June 30, 2008, and July 6, 2019. Bank of America joins JPMorgan ($290 million) and Deutsche Bank ($75 million) in settling with Epstein’s victims, bringing the total amount paid to over 1,000 women to a substantial sum.
