U.S. judge preliminarily approves US$35 million settlement between Epstein estate, accusers
Summary
A U.S. District Judge in Manhattan granted preliminary approval on Tuesday to a settlement agreement where Jeffrey Epstein’s estate will pay up to $35 million to resolve a class action lawsuit. The lawsuit accused two of Epstein’s advisors of aiding and abetting his sex trafficking crimes. The agreement, announced by Boies Schiller Flexner on February 19, is considered fair by Judge Arun Subramanian, who has scheduled a final approval hearing for September 16. The deal aims to conclude a 2024 lawsuit targeting Epstein’s former lawyer, Darren Indyke, and accountant, Richard Kahn, both co-executors of his estate. Lawyers for Indyke and Kahn have not yet responded to requests for comment, but previously stated their clients did not admit any wrongdoing as part of the settlement.
