Judge Preliminarily Approves $35 Million Settlement Between Epstein Estate, Accusers
Summary
U.S. District Judge Arun Subramanian granted preliminary approval on Tuesday to a settlement where Jeffrey Epstein's estate will pay up to $35 million to resolve a class action lawsuit. The lawsuit accused two of Epstein’s advisors, Darren Indyke and Richard Kahn, of aiding and abetting his sex trafficking crimes. The agreement, announced by Boies Schiller Flexner on February 19th, is considered fair by the judge, who has scheduled a final approval hearing for September 16th. This deal aims to conclude a 2024 lawsuit filed against Indyke and Kahn, who also serve as co-executors of Epstein’s estate. While lawyers for Indyke and Kahn have not yet commented, a previous statement indicated that neither man admitted any wrongdoing as part of the settlement.
