Major US Bank Handing $5,000 To Customers in $19,500,000 Class Action Settlement
Summary
Wells Fargo customers in California are set to receive payments from a $19.5 million class action settlement approved in May. The lawsuit alleged that The Credit Wholesale Company, Inc., a vendor for Wells Fargo, violated the California Invasion of Privacy Act by recording phone calls without consent between October 22nd, 2014, and November 17th, 2023. While no wrongdoing was admitted, eligible recipients – California residents and businesses who received calls from Credit Wholesale during that period – will receive payments of approximately $86 per call. Payments will be automatically sent to approved claimants, and Credit Wholesale is now required to disclose future call recordings at the beginning of each conversation.
